Prima di mettere a punto il progetto definitivo di Nice 5.0 vi è
stata una lunga fase progettuale che prevedeva di posizionare nel complesso
produttivo e direzionale anche l’area ricerca e sviluppo (R & D).
La soluzione presentata, subito chiamata a “cannocchiale”,
prevedeva un nuovo volume adagiato sopra la copertura con una sezione
ellissoide. Questa specie di cannocchiale aperto sulle testate era pensato con
un rivestimento in alluminio iridescente e con struttura interna in legno, come
se fosse una carena di barca rovesciata. Immaginando di tagliare
orizzontalmente alcune parti del “cannocchiale” e di aprirle verso l'alto si
ottenevano delle sezioni a C con grandi aperture in cristallo da una parte e
dall'altra del giardino pensile. A sud est il “cannocchiale si curvava verso
“La Postumia”per permettere al sottostante percorso sospeso di collegarsi
direttamente a Nice Headquarter.

Before completing the final
Nice 5.0 project, there was a long planning phase which involved the positioning of the research and development (R & D) area in the production
and management complex.
The solution presented, nick-named
the "telescope" from the start, providing a new volume recumbent
above the roof with an ellipsoid section. This kind of telescope is open at the ends and designed with an iridescent
aluminum coating and an internal wooden structure, as if it were an overturned
boat hull. Some parts of the "telescope" are 'cut across' horizontally and open upwards, so as to obtain C-shaped sections with large glass
windows on one side and a roof
garden on the other. To the south
east the "telescope curves
towards "La Postumia" road
to allow for the suspended covered walkway below to connect
directly to Nice Headquarter.
